the TRIATHLON

A few weeks ago, Branden decided he wanted to train for a sprint triathlon. When I'd mention it to people their first question was 'when?'. That's a good question. He did, however, work out at 5 am every day he wasn't on call/post call/ moonlighting and I remember him going for one bike ride while the girls napped on a post-call afternoon.

We woke up early on Saturday and drove out to Versailles, KY. The race didn't start until 9:00 or so we waited patiently in the swim room area (does that place have a name?)

The girls were so excited to be there. Really. Savannah told me.

And he's off!

still going...

getting out of the pool- oops no picture, Savannah had to go 'poopoo' during lane 7, sorry b.

I did, however run along the path I wasn't supposed to between the pool and the bike area so I could snap one far off picture off the transition

while he biked, we played at the park right alongside the bike trail and a short forty five minutes later, we saw branden riding in, ellie got hit in the face by a kid on the swing, I picked her up and simultaneously threw the cap of the lens, snapped three pictures of branden riding towards us, realized the camera setting had been nudged in my haste to pick up poor screaming ellie, switched to automatic and caught one picture of his cute behind riding past us towards the change place. oops.

the start of the run

and the finish

yeah! go branden! I can't wait until the next one in August. Because who says August 22nd (one day before the babie's due date- four days before internal medicine and pediatric official board exams)isn't a good time to run another triathlon? I sure didn't! Unless i'm in labor I'll be there snapping pictures!
